Center on Aging - Resources for Iowans

The University of Iowa Center on Aging is changing the way faculty, students, professionals, and Iowans think about aging. In a state that ranks second nationally in the proportion of residents age 85 and older, aging studies is a growing and vital field at The University of Iowa. Since its formation in 1990, the center has served as an interdisciplinary, university-wide resource and focal point for aging-related interests and activities. As a statewide source for aging-related information, the Center supports and promotes research, policy analysis, outreach programs, education, training, and clinical services.

A number of electronic resources are available on the center's web site (www.centeronaging.uiowa.edu) including an geriatrician locator for Iowa; the Directory of UI Faculty Associates and Professional Staff in Aging, a searchable database that identifies individuals with aging-related research, education, and training; education and training opportunities in aging for undergraduates, graduates, post-graduates, professionals, and adult learners; the Iowa Index of Geriatric Assessment Tools for researchers and clinicians, as well as numerous links to other informational resources in aging. The center also maintains a listserve on Aging that provides timely e-mail announcements on aging-related research findings and opportunities, clinical and service delivery, economic and public policy issues, census and demographics reports, and educational events and resources.
