Seniors Together in Aging Research (STAR)
Iowans age 50 and over are invited to participate in a volunteer research registry.
The STAR Registry offers:
- Learn about the research process
- Receive information about healthy aging and University of Iowa research studies for adults
- Many studies provide compensation
Participation in this registry and any research study is voluntary. People with medical problems, as well as healthy people, are invited to be in the STAR Registry.

About the STAR Registry
Seniors Together in Aging Research
STAR is a volunteer research registry that helps people who are willing to participate in studies connect with investigators conducting research at the University of Iowa.
Who is eligible to be in the volunteer research registry?
Anyone age 50 or over can enroll in the STAR Registry. People with medical problems, as well as healthy people, are invited to participate.
Why be a Volunteer in the STAR Registry?
- Learn about the research process
- Receive information about healthy aging and University of Iowa research studies for adults
- Many studies provide compensation
What types of research studies will be offered to persons in the registry?
- Take a survey
- Participate in a clinical trial
- Share your opinions
Participation in any research study and the STAR Registry is voluntary. You may decide to leave the study or registry at any time.
Registry information is confidential and access is protected.
To request a registration packet, you may either

- Call tollfree: 866.393.4603, or
- Download the STAR Registry brochure (pdf) and mail your request to enroll in the STAR Registry to the UI Center on Aging.
